But it wasn’t political.
Instead, the Bridesmaids producer, whose film won best comedy at the awards, threw a major barb at comedian Jerry Lewis.

Apatow, who was censored by VH1 three times during his speech, ended the rant with this: “Jerry Lewis once said that he didn’t think that women were funny. I’d like to say, with all respect, f— you.”
He was referring to a comment Lewis made in 1998 at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo.
“I don’t like any women comedians,” he said during a Q&A session conducted by Martin Short. When Short asked if he liked Lucille Ball, Lewis said, “A woman doing comedy doesn’t offend me but sets me back a bit. I, as a viewer, have trouble with it. I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies in the world.”

Bridesmaids, which was written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo and had a female-dominated cast, was a huge box-office hit, making $288 million worldwide and was also critically acclaimed. It’s also nominated for three Golden Globes.
