A traditional red brick Bel-Air home once owned by the late Judy Garland has hit the market for $5.5 million.
Famed Southern California architect Wallace Neff designed the Stone Canyon Road residence for Garland in 1938 — the same year she was cast as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
Listing agent Hugh Evans of Partners Trust said that Garland moved into the five-bedroom house in 1939 and lived at the property for “the next seven or eight years” with her mother.
The property’s current owners, whose names were not disclosed, have owned the 5,513-square-foot residence for the last 35 years and during that time have rented it to both Quincy Jones and the late Marvin Gaye.
“I’m getting a crazy number of calls on it — I am sure just based on the pedigree and the architect,” said Evans, who listed the property on Feb. 3. “It’s a good house.”
Features of the 2.5-acre property include a swimming pool, cabanas and writers’ cabin in the backyard.
