LONDON –Kate Beckinsale has signed to star alongside Simon Pegg in Terry Jones‘ comedy feature Absolutely Anything, which is being produced by London-based Bill & Ben Productions.
Beckinsale will play the female lead and romantic interest for Pegg’s character. The movie follows a disillusioned school teacher who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens watching him from space.

The aliens are voiced by Jones’ fellow Monty Python comedy troupe members John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Eric Idle, along with Robin Williams.
The cast already features British comedy stars Sanjeev Bhaskar, Eddie Izzard and Joanna Lumley.
Producer Ben Timlett described Jones and Gavin Scotts’ script as “laugh out loud,” adding: “We look forward to bringing it to a worldwide audience.”
The film is being produced by Timlett and Bill Jones, Terry’s son at Bill & Ben Productions.
Mike Medavoy, who previously worked with Jones on Life of Brian and Eric The Viking said he is “thrilled to be reunited,” and will serve as executive producer with Chris Chesser (The Rundown).
Worldwide sales are being handled by sales, production & finance company GFM Films.
Absolutely Anything is set to begin shooting in London on March 24.
