Katy Perry has proven she’s completely fearless when it comes to wardrobe, both on the red carpet and onstage, and it’s become clear that her hair color choices come from an equally gutsy place.
After testing out an ombre slime-green look last spring and then going self-described “Muppet red” — inspired by who else but the wild Animal — the singer has now stepped out in Melbourne, Australia, with a marsala-hued bob, which happens to be the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015. It’s not clear whether the Pantone announcement influenced her choice, but we know it’s not the work of colorist Rita Hazan, who has been responsible for some of Perry’s most eye-catching dye jobs.
With tinges of burgundy and brown, this is not royal purple as Perry’s done before. This wine-inspired ’do is ultra-wearable as she proved in an Instagram selfie in which she wore matching matte lipstick in the soon-to-be-everywhere shade. Melbourne’s National Gallery of Victoria museum was actually the first to reveal the star’s mane makeover via Insta two days ago, sharing its own shot of the star posing with Jean Paul Gaultier’s likeness in her fashion-forward new look at the exhibit she visited this weekend.
Now who wants to wager on whether it’ll actually make it to 2015?
