Katy Perry Gets a Post-Breakup Pixie Cut

Katy Perry is changing up her look in the new year.

The pop star unveiled her new do — a platinum blond pixie cut — on Thursday, following reports of her breakup with Orlando Bloom this week. According to her Instagram story, she was inspired by Michelle Williams’ short do, though some followers have compared her to Miley Cyrus, instead.

Perry looked to superstar hairstylist Chris McMillan, known for creating “The Rachel,” for the cut and Justin Anderson and Melinda Miller-Rider for the lighter locks. (McMillan also works with Cyrus.)

“What do you think, Chris?” asks Perry in her Instagram video, to which he responds, “I love it. Are you kidding? I’ve been wanting to do this [since] the day I met you.”

Reps for both Perry and Bloom confirmed the split in a joint statement.

“Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” read the statement, according to People.

Perry, who released a music video for her single “Chained to the Rhythm” last month, also addressed the news via Twitter.

“HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017,” she tweeted. “U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one’s a victim or a villain, get a life y’all!”
