It’s no secret that Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, has a soft-spot for the Kardashians. Kim Kardashian has been his champion for the past few years now, and she and Kanye West got glammed up to front the brand’s spring campaign earlier this year.

So it comes as no surprise that the Parisian fashion house tapped another of the Kardashian-Jenner brood — model Kendall Jenner — as the face of the new campaign. But unlike her Calvin Klein, Fendi and Estee Lauder ads, Kendall wasn’t alone this time.
Jenner starred alongside sister Kylie in the dark, moody ads — shot by Mario Sorrenti — and posed in what appears to be mid-catfight (because famous sisters fight, too). Though Kylie is no stranger to the camera (the 17-year-old is reaching a Kim-worthy selfie quota on Instagram), the ads mark her first high-fashion campaign.
In a statement to Fashionista, Rousteing revealed that it was actually a brief moment of intimacy between Kim and Kanye during their previous shoot that inspired the sibling theme. “I was struck by the love and emotion that I was witnessing in front of me,” he said of a captured kiss. “Starting with a determination to once again focus on the beauty of an intimate connection, my team and I quickly concluded that a celebration of the unique and unconditional love of siblings is a natural progression from the spirit of last season.”

Also heading up the campaign are unstoppable supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid as well as Joan Smalls and her sister, Erika. Though self-described social entrepreneur Erika isn’t technically a model, it’s clear that fierce smizing is a talent that runs in the family.
Modeling brothers Armando and Fernando Cabral also make an appearance for the campaign, getting in touch with their dramatic side for the striking photos.
