Keri Russell shows off her light-filled Brooklyn brownstone in the June issue of Elle Décor.
The actress and mother of River, 3, worked with her husband Shane Deary, a contractor and craftsman, to completely renovate the home — taking down the walls to their studs (and eschewing walls altogether in their master bathroom).
They filled the space with reclaimed materials; their kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities are made from a dismantled post-and-beam house, their window casings are made from the house’s old shutters, found in the basement. Russell’s hangs her clothes on sleek plumbing pipes.
The high-low, organic design includes rugs by Shaw Floors — and Ikea. Their living room features upholstered armchairs by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and a sidetable and mirror built by Deary from recycled wood.
It’s a far cry from Russell’s first digs in New York City, where she relocated after wrapping four years on Felicity. “I moved with a mattress, a box of books, and my two cats,” she tells the magazine.
She’ll next appear in Goats alongside Vera Farmiga and David Duchovny.
