Kesha did in fact take the stage at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, where she performed a melancholic cover of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.”
Clad in a white pantsuit, the singer was accompanied by Ben Folds on piano and Y Music on violin. She received a standing ovation after the performance.
Kesha’s appearance was a much-talked-about subject in the week leading up to the BBMAs, as it circulated that Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Productions had signed off on the singer’s performance, and then rescinded that approval, and then re-approved, after getting assurances that the “Tik Tok” singer wouldn’t use the stage as a platform to discuss their legal battle.
The show is being hosted by Ciara and Ludacris, and includes performances from Rihanna, Madonna and Demi Lovato.
The 2016 Billboard Music Awards aired live on Sunday on ABC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. For a list of the winners, click here.
