The Strain star Kevin Durand and Bill Paxton have grabbed lead roles in Nathan Morlando’s crime thriller Mean Dreams, now shooting in Northern Ontario.
The coming-of-age drama sees Paxton in the role of a corrupt local cop whose daughter, played by Sophie Nelisse, and a young man (Josh Wiggins) steal a bag full of drug money and go on the run, having to con, fight and bribe to survive. Mean Dreams is written by Ryan Grassby and Kevin Coughlin, with William Woods producing and executive producer credits shared by Allison Black, Patrice Theroux, Jonathan Bronfman, Rob McGillivray, Ben Stranahan, Mark Gingras, Andre Bharti and Tom Spriggs.
The film is shooting in Northern Canada. Financing comes from Tip Top Productions, Project AMB, Vigilante Productions, Telefilm Canada, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and the OMDC. Paxton is repped by UTA, Feore is repped by Greene & Associates and Coronel Group, while Durand is repped by WME and Alchemy Management.
Elevation Pictures will distribute the film in Canada.
