As stars and the industry’s makeup and hair gurus gathered together on Wednesday evening to celebrate The Hollywood Reporter‘s Beauty Issue — which features one cover of Reese Witherspoon with makeup artist Molly R. Stern and another with Taraji P. Henson and makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff — it’s safe to say that the chic crowd looked Insta-glam and camera-ready at THR‘s intimate dinner, sponsored by Laura Mercier.
An all black-clad Khloe Kardashian arrived at the London Hotel with her crew (also in almost all black), including mama-to-be Chrissy Teigen, who covered her tiny baby bump with high-waisted trousers, bestie Malika Haqq, stylist Monica Rose, hairstylist Jen Atkin, who recently gave Khloe a new short ‘do (or a “Celine lob,” as she calls it) and also travels to Dubai to lend her magic touch there.

During cocktail hour, guests including makeup artists Carola Gonzalez (who works with Kerry Washington), Rachel Goodwin (Emma Stone), Sabrina Bedrani (Charlize Theron), Kate Lee (Anne Hathaway), and Streicher sisters Ashley, Jenn and Kristie, who arrived with Kiernan Shipka, mingled and enjoyed champagne in the lavish Vivienne Westwood-designed penthouse suite.
Makeup maven Pati Dubroff, who posed with Dakota Johnson for the Beauty Issue, also stepped out for the fancy occasion and expressed gratitude for having the Fifty Shades of Grey star by her side.
“She was so gracious to be part of this with me,” Dubroff, who arrived in a strapless Stella McCartney number and Dannijo earrings and cuff, told Pret-a-Reporter. “You never want to ask favors from clients, and it feels like a big favor to ask for someone to take time to be photographed yet again, but she was super gracious and we have a real love for each other.”

Hair guru Cervando Maldonado felt the same sentiment in relation to his photo shoot with Kirsten Dunst, whose “It” cut landed her at No. 15 on THR‘s list of Hollywood’s 25 Best Beauty Moments of 2015.
“I was so excited and surprised,” said a jubilant Cervando, who added that he’s always known that he wanted to pursue a hairstyling career. As he greeted his fellow colleagues, he shared that being in their company makes him feel “very privileged and very special to be here.”
Fellow hairstylists Serge Normant (Julia Roberts), Adir Abergel (Saoirse Ronan), Ben Skervin (Keira Knightley) and celeb colorist Tracey Cunningham (Khloe Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow) were also on the scene.

When cocktails wrapped up, guests were ushered to the hotel’s rooftop where they dined with a skyline view of the Hollywood hills and enjoyed a farmers’ market salad, entrees of roasted jidori chicken, sautéed halibut or mushroom risotto, and ice cream and chocolate for desserts. John Legend even made a surprise visit during the night.
As Dubroff put it best about the evening with her colleagues, “We never get to see each other — we get to see the hairdressers all the time but the makeup artists, we don’t. Sometimes on a junket, but it’s rare. Especially the girls — there’s this sisterhood because we really all do understand what our job entails. … So yeah, the sisterhood understands.”
