Khloe Kardashian says she never wanted to do a Keeping Up With the Kardashians spinoff with her ex-husband, Lamar Odom.
In The Hollywood Reporter‘s cover story, the reality star says it was Odom who wanted to do Khloe & Lamar — and she was the one who pulled the plug after two seasons.
“I never wanted to do Khloe & Lamar; my ex-husband did,” she says. “He has his career, but he really fought for it. I said, ‘You have to go into E! and promise them that you have the time.’ He sold it, and I let it happen because I wanted him to be happy, but I was the one who canceled it. It was way too much.”
The show debuted on E! in April 2011; a second season premiered in February 2012. Kardashian’s brother, Rob, and her best friend, Malika Haqq, also were featured prominently.
After the second season aired, Kardashian said that the show was on hiatus amid a “whirlwind” that included moving to Dallas after he was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Mavericks, which he would leave after four months, along with the death of his cousin and Odom’s involvement (as a passenger) in an accident that killed a teenage cyclist.
Kardashian filed for divorce in December 2013 after the pair had been married for four years, but rescinded the filing after Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel two years later. She cited Odom’s medical condition as one reason to withdraw the divorce.
