TORONTO — International children’s network KidsCo is programming Syfy Kids, a dedicated block of kids genre shows for NBCUniversal’s Syfy channel.
The joint venture between NBCUniversal International and Canada’s Corus Entertainment has yet to unveil titles for the Syfy Kids offering.
“We have a confirmed content pipeline with our shareholders, NBCUniversal and Corus Entertainment,” Hendrik McDermott, KidsCo managing director, told The Hollywood Reporter. The Syfy Kids block will receive a programming pipeline from NBCUniversal and Corus, while adding third-party content partners.
The new venture in part aims to extend the Syfy brand to a new generation of young viewers.
KidsCo, launched in Sept. 2007, offers content globally to 100 territories in 17 languages via cable, satellite TV and IP TV channels.
Its content includes Beyblade, Grossology, Rolie Polie Olie, Jacob Two-Two and Babar.
KidsCo is broadcast from the production headquarters of Corus Entertainment in Toronto.
