The Dress: A fresh-off-the-runway metallic tweed pinafore dress and strapless bandeau bra from Chanel’s Cruise 2018 collection.
The Wearer: Kristen Stewart, who was styled by Tara Swennen.
The Event: At the screening of 120 Battements Par Minutes (120 Beats Per Minute) during the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.
Why It Matters: This neo-goddess look continued the trend we’ve been seeing of actresses pushing the envelope fashion-wise at this year’s fest, with nontraditional takes on the evening gown. This modern and sporty ensemble is from Karl Lagerfeld’s most recent Chanel collection inspired by Ancient Greece, shown on May 3 in Paris. Rather than piled-on accessories, like the layered necklaces, bejeweled headband and gold bracelets seen on the runway, Stewart kept it minimal with only a single silver bangle. She also skipped out on the bright yellow gladiator sandals from the runway, opting for a pair of Le Silla strappy heels that made for a more red carpet-appropriate ensemble. With her platinum blond shaved hair, Stewart brought some gender-bending edge to the glam setting.

Earlier in the afternoon, Stewart also looked like a badass, wearing a white Aritzia tank, Rag & Bone shorts and Jillian Dempsey bracelet, as well as black Chanel gloves and a pair of booties with straps that wrapped around her entire legs. Not one to necessarily stick to dress codes, she told The Hollywood Reporter, “If you’re not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you can’t ask me either.”
