Everything about Kristen Stewart‘s look at Tuesday’s Still Alice screening in New York City was eye-catching, from her sheer Roksanda Ilincic dress to her deeply parted ‘do. But nothing was quite as dramatic as her kohl-rimmed eyes.
“My inspiration was sort of the 1960s in a way, but I wanted to make it modern,” says makeup artist Beau Nelson, who used Chanel cosmetics to create Stewart’s stunning look. “With the hair being as it was, it was easy for me to imagine Kristen in a ’60s girl group with a strong black eye that we reimagined with a metallic sapphire iridescent twist.”
Nelson used Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense and Marine on her eyelids — in place of cream shadow — and then applied Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Ebony over it. “I followed with Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Bleu Metallique over the black, making it most intense on the inner corners,” she says. The final touch: two coats of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir.
To finish off the look, Nelson added Chanel Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Naturel to the tail ends of her brows for definition, and applied Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipstick in Intime to match Stewart’s natural lip color.
