Over the years, Swennen has helped create Stewart’s evolving red-carpet style that turned heads on the Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 promotional circuit with two very sexy Zuhair Murad creations.
Stewart’s Los Angeles premiere shocker was Murad’s sheer nude chiffon gown that exposed lots of leg (and backside); another Murad design was the black lace beaded bodysuit that left little to the imagination at the London premiere.
The scandalous outfits felt to carpet watchers as if the actress were telegraphing “no more apologies” after confessing to cheating on Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
Now it turns out Swennen and Stewart purposely pushed the envelope with stronger, more seductive fashions for the film franchise finale.
“It all stemmed from the fact that this was the end of a big chapter in her life. Twilight is coming to a close, so we wanted to do stronger looks. We just wanted to make a grand escape, I guess, rather than a grand entrance,” Swennen told The Cut.
As for that nude Murad gown, Swennen said: “It took a lot of balls for her to wear that dress, so I’m super-proud of her.”
“We went from the lace bustier gown at the premiere to the completely sheer beaded jumpsuit in London,” she added. “He really does have a lot of very exquisite pieces; it’s couture essentially. I’m drawn to it just because each look is so special, and then it’s been fitting her so elegantly.”
Swennen has persuaded Stewart to wear heels for at least half the red carpet before she switches to sneakers. But there’s still one thing she would love for the actress to wear: earrings.
“She doesn’t have her ears pierced, still, so it’s a running joke that when she’s 25, I’ll finally get her in jewelry.”
We think it’s incredibly sweet that Stewart shuns major bling and prefers to wear sentimental jewelry that’s been given to her by friends or family.
There was one bracelet (by Iwona Ludyga) that Swennen gave her at the beginning of the Breaking Dawn tour that she took a liking to.
“She’s been wearing it a lot, it’s a red triangle. But it’s really a fluke with jewelry. I don’t even pull it at this point because I know that she’s gonna wear her personal stuff.”
According to Swennen, Stewart has one more Balenciaga ensemble — designed by former creative head Nicolas Ghesquiere — that is red carpet-bound.
Maybe she’ll wear it to the next On The Road outing next month. The film opens in limited release on Dec. 21.
