Screen Junkies’ latest Honest Trailer gets caught up in a bit of a mix-up.
The Honest Trailer for La La Land starts like any other, mocking the Damien Chazelle-directed musical as a “tale of passion, love and ditching all that nonsense when your career takes off” and “one of the most Oscar-nominated films of all time that will have future generations say, ‘A musical about show business? Well, no wonder the Academy lapped it up.'”
The narrator has problems with the film’s version of Hollywood traffic and Ryan Gosling’s love of jazz, but gets distracted in the middle of the trailer when he discovers that it shouldn’t be for La La Land at all — it’s really for Moonlight.
After a moment inspired by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway’s flub on Oscars night, the narrator moves over to Moonlight, telling its story to the tune of La La Land’s soundtrack.
Watch the Honest Trailer below.
