Apple Model Management, a modeling agency that represents only transgender models, is opening an office in Los Angeles, reports The Advocate.
The organization, which opened in Thailand in November 2014, became the first agency to represent transgender models. The L.A. division already reps six transgender women and is still seeking to add models to its roster (interested applicants above 5-foot-8 in height can apply here).

“Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender,” Cecilio Asuncion, Apple’s L.A. agency director, told The Advocate. “It’s never a question of if they are women or men, it’s about their passion and commitment to being the best possible models they can be.”
No word yet on when the office will open or where it will be located in L.A. (we’ve reached out to Apple and are awaiting comment), but with transgender models including Taylor Swift bestie Andreja Pejic, Lea T and Modcloth’s latest spokesperson landing major fashion and beauty campaigns, it’s about time the modeling industry started taking notice in a much more formalized way.
