The singer, songwriter, actress and activist will perform on the night, though fans will have to wait and see which number Mother Monster chooses to deliver.
The pop superstar is back in the spotlight with her latest album, Joanne, which is on target to earn Gaga her fourth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (she previously topped the survey with her collaborative Tony Bennett album Cheek to Cheek, along with her solo efforts ARTPOP and Born This Way).
Joanne, Gaga’s fifth studio album, is enjoying an almighty push from its creator and her team. Gaga has knocked down two of her three web-streamed Dive Bar Tour dates (most recently welcoming Mark Ronson onstage in New York) and appeared on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live; she’ll also appear shortly on James Corden’s Late Late Show and perform the halftime show at the 2017 Super Bowl.

Gaga is no stranger to the AMAs. She’s a nine-time AMA nominee, taking out the favorite female artist, pop/rock category in 2010. And she’s graced the AMA stage with performances in 2009, for a medley of “Bad Romance” and “Speechless,” and again in 2013 for a collab with R. Kelly on “Do What U Want.”
Gaga joins American Music Award of Merit recipient Sting and Bruno Mars as the first performers confirmed for the 2016 event.
The AMAs will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 at 8 pm ET on ABC and is produced by Dick Clark Productions. Drake leads with a record 13 nominations for the fan-voted awards show, while Rihanna has seven and Adele and Justin Bieber each have five.
The 2016 American Music Awards show is executive produced by Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan, with Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco serving as producers.
