Golden Globes: Lady Gaga Wins Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries

Lady Gaga is officially a Golden Globe winner.

The singer won the best performance by an actress in a TV movie or miniseries award on Sunday for her onscreen turn in the fifth installment of America Horror Story: Hotel.

The role of the bloodthirsty (and incredibly well-dressed) hotel owner The Countess marked Gaga’s acting debut. Showrunner Ryan Murphy has asked her to return for the series’ sixth season.

“I feel like Cher in that John Patrick Shanley film Moonstruck right now — this is one of the greatest moments of my life,” she said onstage, thanking Murphy and the cast. “You’re my family forever. … Because of you, I was able to shine, I guess. So thank you for sharing your talent with me. I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer, but music worked out first.”

Nearly breaking into tears, Gaga also thanked her loved ones, saying, “The things I put my body through and my mind through when I’m working, it makes me like a child, I can’t even do things on my own. You allow that and you take care of me and you help me to explore my creativity in ways i never thought I could.”

Gaga was nominated alongside Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone), Felicity Huffman (American Crime) and Queen Latifah (Bessie).

The FX anthology series also was nominated for best limited series or motion picture made for television.

Ricky Gervais hosted the film-and-TV fete at the Beverly Hilton.
