Momentum Pictures announced that DirecTV will premiere the Lance Armstrong biopic The Program.
Philomena‘s Stephen Frears directed the film, which stars Ben Foster and Chris O’Dowd, and follows the disgraced cycling champion’s doping scandal and downfall. The script is adapted from David Walsh’s book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong. Jesse Plemons, Lee Pace and Dustin Hoffman also star.
The film, which made its world premiere in September at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, will run the film one month before its March 18 specialty theatrical and VOD debut.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with DirecTV on an exclusive basis and eager to share this compelling and topical true story with audiences,” said Berry Meyerowitz, president at Momentum Pictures.
This release marks Momentum Pictures’ first exclusive film with the satellite TV provider.
