Justin Timberlake isn’t the only former ‘N Sync member with a full plate.
Two days after Timberlake’s anticipated third solo effort hit stores, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively that Lance Bass will host the 2013 West Coast Liberty Awards. The event, held by Lambda Legal, will take place Thursday, June 13, at West Hollywood’s London Hotel.
Lambda Legal is the country’s largest legal organization and strives to achieve full recognition of civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people and those living with HIV. The West Coast Liberty Awards is a yearly gala that recognizes individuals and organizations whose public advocacy and work has furthered the cause of Lambda Legal’s vision of equality. Past honorees have included Rosie O’Donnell, Margaret Cho, Kathy Griffin, Alan Cumming and Judith Light. This year’s recipient will be announced shortly.
“As a strong supporter of Lambda Legal’s fight for equality, I was very honored to be asked to host Lambda Legal’s 40th annual West Coast Liberty Awards. I am excited to be part of their terrific event,” Bass says in a statement.
“We are thrilled that Lance Bass has agreed to host Lambda Legal’s 40th annual Liberty Awards event. We believe that he will be the perfect host and that he will make this into a very special event for us,” says Rick Davis, Lambda Legal’s Western regional director.
This year’s honorary committee includes Lily Tomlin, Alison Pill, Joshua Malina, Bellamy Young, Michael Steger, Jai Rodriguez, Sara Rue, Grant Bowler, Rex Lee, Garcelle Beauvais, Janina Gavankar, Tony Denison and others.
Bass runs The Lance Bass Foundation, which works to meet the health and educational needs of children, and hosts the weekly Sirius XM show “Dirty Pop With Lance Bass.”
