Larry King and CNN are officially calling it quits. The veteran newsman retired from his primetime show in December 2010. At the time, King and CNN said he would host four specials a year for the network, which continued to employ a handful of producers for King.

But CNN and King confirmed Wednesday that he will not host any more specials for CNN.
“CNN and Larry King have mutually agreed to end the Larry King specials,” said the network in a statement. “We have the greatest respect for Larry and wish him the best of luck with his new endeavors.”
Added King: “I have nothing but love and respect for CNN, and I’m looking forward to all the wonderful business opportunities that I will now dedicate my full time to.”
Larry King Live was replaced in January 2011 by Piers Morgan Tonight. King hosted four specials for CNN including an hour on Alzheimer’s and a sit-down with Johnny Depp.
