“Weiner’s weener” – as Jimmy Fallon put it – dominated the late-night talk shows Monday as comedians unloaded on Congressman Anthony Weiner for admitting after several days of denials that he tweeted a lewd photo to a college woman.
“Weiner finally spoke to the news media today. Apparently he wanted to wait until his pants came back from the dry cleaners,” Jay Leno quipped during his monologue on NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
“I think we will always remember where we were when we found out that this is, in fact, Anthony Weiner’s (bleep),” said Stephen Colbert as he sat beside a screen shot of the offending photo on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report.
“Beautiful day in New York City. It was so nice today the entire staff was in Central Park writing Weiner jokes,” David Letterman said on Late Show With David Letterman on CBS.
Getting the biggest laugh, though, was Fallon on Late Night on NBC:
“It’s been a crazy few days. First Weiner admitted that he tweeted that photo of his crotch, and John Edwards was indicted for covering up an affair. Or, as Arnold Schwarzenegger put it, ‘Thank you God. This is the best week ever!”
The website Politico, in its Politico Playback online roundup of late-night comedy, created a montage of the Weiner jokes.
