Starting this month, Lauren Conrad has banned the words “skinny,” “slim” and “thin” from her lifestyle website.
She announced the news on Monday via her monthly letter, where she shared the website’s theme for June will be “Shape Up.”
“When we’ve talked about getting in shape in the past, words like ‘skinny,’ ‘slim,’ and ‘thin’ have often come up,” wrote Conrad. “Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like ‘fit,’ ‘toned’ and ‘healthy.'”
She added, “The word ‘skinny’ will now be reserved for skinny jeans.”

Conrad explained that she will still provide fitness tips and continue her “bikini boot camp” series, but she is shifting the focus to being fit “as opposed to a number on the scale.”
“Every body is created differently — and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes,” she wrote. Conrad is already getting positive reinforcement for her decision in the comments section of the letter.
“Hopefully others will follow your lead,” wrote one commenter. Another said, “I love that you will be doing this with a focus on health and fitness. The best part is, when you work out to be toned and healthy, you look amazing too.”
