Laverne Cox spoke on the Director’s Guild of America’s Orange Is the New Black panel last Monday, hitting all her fashion marks for the event. She chose a sleek knit black minidress and paired it with cheetah pointy-toe stilettos from The Highest Heel for a pop. “I love the cheetah print and the metal spiked heel. They are a great way to spice up an LBD. And the spiked heel makes me feel very sexy,” noted the groundbreaking star, who is the first openly transgender person nominated for an Emmy in an acting category.
The Vampire Diaries star was on the move in New York last week, making appearances on Live! With Kelly and Michael, The Tonight Show and Sirius XM to promote her new movie, Let’s Be Cops. Pairing a signature Markus Lupfer “Lip” knit top with one of his flirty skirts, she took the look from girly to sophisticated with her elegant Dolce & Gabbana poppy suede strappy stilettos. The ladylike four-and-a-quarter-inch heels were chosen by Dobrev and power stylist Ilaria Urbinati. “We thought the pop of color with the outfit would be a little bit unexpected, fun, and make the outfit a bit more summery,” explains Urbinati, who also works with Lizzy Caplan and Shailene Woodley.
The Sin City star stepped out with a very fresh take on denim — pairing a below-the-knee gathered denim skirt with a crisp white lace shell top. Her stylists, Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, are known for their love of denim, but we hear Alba picked out her four-inch, peep-toe denim lace-up booties herself from her own private Stuart Weitzman collection. It turns out these denim steppers are five years old. The mompreneur has quite the eye for future trends.
On Sunday, the actor stepped out for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles L.A. premiere, looking most dapper. Dressed head to toe in Salvatore Ferragamo, he went with the “Gancio” bit loafer in mahogany brown calfskin to complete his cream-colored suit. Ilaria Urbinati, who styled Arnett, shares that it was his idea to wear the kicks. “He specifically asked for loafers — he loves the no socks and loafers look for summer, especially with a white suit. It’s such a classic look,” she says. “Will can pull off a lot of different looks — from cool varsity jackets to old Hollywood velvet tuxes to white suits, and he’s always down to be a little adventurous with his style. It’s a lot of fun and he always looks handsome.”
The so-called tattoo artist continues her Bangerz tour in Philadelphia with a variety of wildly embellished, jewel-encrusted costumes, including a “billion-dollar bodysuit” designed by New York-based fashion brand The Blonds. Styled by Simone Harouche, Cyrus’ showstopping look was paired with white scalloped, open-flared cowboy boots. “The cowgirl boots were a throwback to her country roots but made more glamorous with crystals, fringe and bright colors,” says David Blond, co-designer of The Blonds. “It was a Rhinestone Cowgirl moment! The boots really completed the costume in a truly original and amazing way.”
