Marchesa seems to have set their sights on some fashion faces who are a little more — how can we put this — mainstream youth-market than their usual high fashion red carpet ladies. Pop singer Demi Lovato, 19 and Glee star Lea Michele, 25, both turned up in Marchesa creations at the People’s Choice Awards last night (Jan. 11).
Lovato’s apricot silk chiffon draped strapless Marchesa gown had an elaborate embroidered bodice detail. She also carried a matching Marchesa turquoise and pearl embroidered square box clutch. And she not only performed her new single, “Give Your Heart a Break,” but she also took home the award for Favorite Pop Artist.

Michele — who won the Favorite TV Comedy Actress award — wore Marchesa’s ’20s flapper-inspired bugle bead dress along with Jimmy Choo shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. It’s somewhat telling that she’s gotten the biggest thumbs up — not for the costumy dress — but for her bright pink lipstick, a new shade from Lancome Rouge In Love lipstick in the hue Roses in Love.
By the way, Lea just landed the brand ambassador gig for Candie’s, joining the ranks of past shoe stars Vanessa Hudgens, Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Fergie and Jenny McCarthy. No, it’s not exactly a Dior contract but it’s a start.
As for Miley Cyrus, 19, she carried a Marchesa python oval clutch to accent her David Koma dress worn with Neil Lane earrings and Jimmy Choo heels. And carry it she did.
She clutched her clutch on the red carpet and backstage, often holding it up high so photographers could get a better shot of the bag.
But let’s be honest. Her hottest accessory was boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, right?
