A version of this story first appeared in The Hollywood Reporter‘s second annual Watch Issue.
On Veterans Day, Breitling launched a limited-edition Honor Flight watch with sales benefiting the organization that brings veterans to Washington to visit the National World War II Memorial. The group was the subject of a documentary, Honor Flight: One Last Mission, which traced its founding and the journey of a group of vets from Wisconsin. Says Kmele Foster, executive producer of the documentary, “Shadowing the veterans and the volunteers was certainly inspiring, but one of the most surprising things for me to watch was the development of a completely organic and diverse community of champions.”

Honor Flight is Breitling’s No.?1 charity initiative this year, says Thierry Prissert, president of Breitling USA. The special Navitimer 01 Wisconsin edition is designated with an Honor Flight logo on the dial and an engraved case back decorated with one of the 56 pillars at the memorial and the words “Honor Flight — One Last Mission.” Breitling auctioned No.?1 of 56 numbered pieces ($9,020, 800-785-8832) in this year’s series and hopes to raise as much as $200,000 each year.
In September, Audemars Piguet partnered with NBA great LeBron James to launch the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph LeBron James ($51,500, exclusive to Audemars Piguet), limited to 600?pieces in pink gold with a titanium bezel. A portion of sales benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation, which supports co-curricular educational initiatives as well as active lifestyles to enhance the lives of kids and young adults.
