Grace Dunham is weighing in on accusations that her older sister, Lena Dunham, molested her when they were children.
In a series of tweets, Grace, 22, lashed out at the media.
heteronormativity deems certain behaviours harmful, and others “normal”; the state and media are always invested in maintaining that

As a queer person: i’m committed to people narrating their own experiences, determining for themselves what has and has not been harmful

The controversy came up last week when conservative sites such as Truth Revolt highlighted passages in Lena Dunham’s book of essays, Not That Kind of Girl, in which she described an incident that occurred when Lena was 7 and Grace was a toddler.

“One day, as I sat in our driveway in Long Island playing with blocks and buckets, my curiosity got the best of me,” Lena Dunham wrote in her book. “Grace was sitting up, babbling and smiling, and I leaned down between her legs and carefully spread open her vagina. She didn’t resist, and when I saw what was inside I shrieked.”
Lena Dunham defended herself against the accusations over the weekend, tweeting, “The right wing news story that I molested my little sister isn’t just LOL- it’s really f—ing upsetting and disgusting.”
On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel also defended Lena Dunham.
To suggest that a 7 yr-old girl is even capable of “molestation” is vile. #clickbaityourselvestohell xo @lenadunham
