Les Miserables will live one day more on Broadway.
The epic mega-musical returns to the Great White Way in March 2014, producer Cameron Mackintosh announced Tuesday.
Les Mis, the fourth longest-running Broadway production of all time, opened at the Broadway Theatre on March 12, 1987, before jumping to the Imperial Theatre three years later for 6,680 performances. The show returned to New York City for another run from November 2006-January 2008. A U.S. national tour, launched in 2010, has garnered more than $130 million playing in 64 cities.

“I am delighted that Broadway audiences will now join the millions of Americans who have already flocked to see this glorious new staging and spectacular re-imagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo,” said Mackintosh in a statement.
And then there’s Les Mis: the movie. Tom Hooper‘s faithful, melodramatic and polarizing big-screen adaptation has earned eight Academy Award nominations including best picture, best actor for Hugh Jackman and best supporting actress for Anne Hathaway.
The Universal film, co-produced by Mackintosh and Working Title Films, has grossed $400 million at the global box office and $150 million in domestic ticket sales.
No word on whether Jackman will reprise his Jean Valjean role in the upcoming stage show.
