While Dolly Parton commandeered the highest audience attendance at Glastonbury Festival, Lily Allen took the prize for best footwear during her roaring return to the Glastonbury stage after five years away. With strong vocals, she narrowly avoided a complete downpour and set both Twitter and the stage afire in head-to-toe custom Vivienne Westwood. Balancing on the vertiginous elevated court shoes with six-inch, candy “squiggle”-striped platforms — the ones that made Westwood famous after Naomi Campbell took a runway tumble in them in 1993 — Allen seemed to have no problem navigating the stage. Standing on one foot on the speakers during her performance and tearing off her ball gown to reveal a hot-pink mini beneath proved easy for this fit mom of two. Richard Sloan, Allen’s stylist, told us he “wanted something irreverent and sexy that would also read well onstage for her performance.” All goals met with this sartorial choice.

Beyonce kicked off her On the Run tour in typical Queen Bey fashion — unitards, fishnets, sparkle, glitter and a costume change that ignited the interwebs with it’s, ahem, minimal coverage of certain Beyonce assets. Among the many changes we spotted, a key shoe silhouette — the aptly named “Power” pump from Beyonce favorite, Stuart Weitzman. This three-and-a-quarter-inch-high classic stiletto pump grounded her looks in a more timeless and traditional piece of footwear than her usual for power hits “Love on Top” and “Ring the Alarm.” Raquel Smith and Ty Hunter, Beyonce’s personal stylists, weighed in: “Beyonce loves to perform in Stuart Weitzman because not only are the designs cool but they provide amazing comfort and support while she is performing — plus his turnaround time is the best!” Note to self: When embarking on a world tour, pack a pair of these pumps.

Psy (Photo credit: YouTube)
The Korean megaperformer did not disappoint during his performance at the World Cup on June 17 — and his shoes were no exception. Known for his penchant for two-tone black-and-white Christian Louboutin spectator wingtips, Psy rocked his tongue-in-cheek Gangnam style with a pair of red-and-white spectators for his live performance before the South Korea vs. Russia game. Tying it all back to his red signature sleeveless tux jacket (which of course came off almost as soon as he started performing), white shirt, red flared tux pants and red bracelets, he’s traversing new shoe style territory, mixing both classic and clever.

NeNe Leakes (Photo credit:Everett Collection/REX USA)
NeNe Leakes made her showgirl debut in Cirque de Soleil’s Zumanity this week in a pair of “Impera” laser-cut leather and PVC Christian Louboutin four-inch-high stilettos. The Zumanity wardrobe team got these high-end kicks performance ready by adding rubber to the bottom paired with a larger heel cap for balance and encrusting red Swarovski crystal along the sole for a show-stopping pop when the lights hit. As NeNe told us last Thursday morning before her 10-show run, “The hair, makeup and wardrobe department had full liberty to do whatever they wanted, but there was one catch: I had to wear shoes that were fabulous. I chose one of my favorite shoe designers, Christian Louboutin. Now, my feet hurt like hell, but they look good!”

Jennifer Garner (Photo credit: Picture Perfect/REX USA)
Jennifer Garner turned style volume way up in a pair of four-inch Givenchy “Giuliana” ankle-strap stiletto heels at the Thirst Gala in Beverly Hills on June 24. Garner looked both incredibly chic and spirited in a refreshing departure from the typical cocktail dress red-carpet attire. But her Givenchy shoes took the ensemble to entirely new heights with their minimalist yet architectural take on the naked sandal. Robin’s egg blue toenail lacquer was the only spot of color in her ensemble, emphasizing once again how a perfect pedi choice can draw attention to the most important part of the outfit.
