Lindsay Lohan has been hospitalized in Santa Monica after being involved in a car accident Friday.
The actress was driving a black Porsche on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica around noon when it struck the back of an 18-wheeler truck. She and the passenger appeared bloodied and bruised but were not seriously injured, TMZ reports.
On Monday, Lohan began filming the Lifetime TV movie Liz & Dick, in which she is portraying Elizabeth Taylor (opposite Grant Bowler‘s Richard Burton).
The network issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday afternoon expressing concern for Lohan and did not immediately comment on whether production of Liz & Dick, which is being shot at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, would be impacted by the actress’ accident.
“First and foremost, we’re concerned about the well being of Lindsay and anyone else involved in the accident,” Lifetime said. “Lindsay has been doing fantastic work on the set of Liz & Dick and we have no further details.”

According to TMZ, Lohan, 25, is being treated in an emergency room but did not take an ambulance to the hospital. Eyewitnesses said Lohan, who was driving with her assistant, told people that the truck cut her off and that the accident was not her fault. The Santa Monica Police Department did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.
Liz & Dick executive producer Larry Thompson, speaking to THR on Friday morning before the accident, said production on the telepic ran until 3 a.m. Friday. He said Lohan “has certainly lived up to every expectation we have of her.”
Thompson added that producers initially were concerned about Lohan’s commitment to the project and included extra safeguards in her contract. On March 29, Lohan was taken off formal probation that stemmed from her 2007 conviction for driving under the influence. She had been sent to jail a handful of times for violation of her probation.
“We negotiated Lindsay’s deal and we had eight pages of what-ifs and all these contingencies,” Thompson said. “What if she doesn’t meet the requirements of her probation? What if the probation is not lifted? What if she were arrested again after probation had been lifted? That led us to doing something unusual in getting incarceration insurance beyond the quite expensive premium we had to pay.”
UPDATED: Lifetime said late on Friday afternoon that Lohan is fine and is headed back to the set of Liz & Dick.
