TORONTO – Lionsgate and Saban Entertainment are drawing even closer together.
Vancouver-based Lionsgate and Saban Brands on Thursday unveiled a multi-year distribution deal that will see the indie studio release Saban’s Power Rangers Samurai and Super Samurai TV properties on DVD, Blu-ray and varied digital platforms.
Both shows currently air on Nickelodeon, with Power Rangers Super Samurai debuting last month.
The North American licensing agreement follows Saban Capital Group joining Lionsgate to run Celestial Tiger Entertainment, an Asian operator of pay TV channels and distributor of TV programming in the action, thriller and horror genres.
The first releases in the home entertainment deal, Power Rangers Samurai: The Team Unites and Power Rangers Samurai: A New Enemy, will be released on DVD and digital download from June 19.
The deal was unveiled by Lionsgate executive vp of marketing and family entertainment Anne Parducci and Saban Brands president Elie Dekel.
