Just in case the Pitch Perfect 2 trailer wasn’t enough to meet your Anna Kendrick singing quota, Disney has released the full audio of Kendrick singing “On the Steps of the Palace” in Into the Woods.
The actress plays Cinderella in the musical film, but as Meryl Streep tells us in the behind-the-scenes featurette about Kendrick’s character, she is an ambivalent Cinderella. The song, written by Stephen Sondheim, is a moment when Cinderella stops and ponders whether she should return to her old life or embrace a new one, where she might not belong. (The new life, by the way, includes Chris Pine as Prince Charming.)
“Whichever you pick do it quick, ’cause you’re starting to stick to the steps of the palace,” sings Kendrick, as she questions herself and then comes up with a plan by the end of the song. Hear Kendrick sing below and watch the video with behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of this song.
