NEW YORK – Lucy Liu and Jonathan Groff will co-host the nominations announcement for the 68th annual Tony Awards, live from the Diamond Horseshoe, the newly reopened nightclub venue at New York’s Paramount Hotel.
The 2014 nominees will be unveiled on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m. and broadcast live on TonyAwards.com and CBS This Morning.
Liu stars on the CBS detective series Elementary; she made her Broadway debut in 2010 in the Tony-winning play God of Carnage. Groff is the lead in Looking, HBO’s series about a group of gay men in contemporary San Francisco, and is featured in the voice cast of Disney’s animated smash Frozen. He was nominated for a Tony for lead actor in a musical in 2007 for Spring Awakening.
The Tonys will honor the best of the 2013-14 Broadway season in plays and musicals. The latest openings eligible for awards consideration this season are the revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, starring Neil Patrick Harris (April 22); Harvey Fierstein‘s first new play in more than 25 years, Casa Valentina (April 23); and the return of the hit 1998 Cabaret revival, co-directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall and starring Michelle Williams and Alan Cumming (April 24).
The Tony Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 8, with Hugh Jackman returning to host for the fourth time.
