AP ImagesMany only know Selena Quintanilla’s music through Jennifer Lopez’s portrayal of her in Selena, but for many others she lives on as a true legend. Twenty years after her tragic death, MAC announced Thursday that it would release a collection inspired by her later next year, bringing the spotlight to Selena once again.

“Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late night conversations on our tour bus when [Selena] spoke of having her own makeup line one day,” says Suzette Quintanilla, the pop star’s sister. “If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.”
There’s no word yet on what exactly the collection will include, but it seems safe to predict there will be at least one bright red lipstick — a shade the Latina beauty favored. In recent years MAC has partnered with singers from Lorde and Miley Cyrus to Lady Gaga and Rihanna, but this collection promises to be different.
