On Sunday night in Las Vegas, Madonna saluted her friend and collaborator Prince with a two-song performance at the Billboard Music Awards. Paying tribute to the late legend during the kudocast, she performed “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Purple Rain,” which included a surprise appearance from Stevie Wonder. Madonna took to social media on Monday to respond to critics of the production.
“Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to,” she wrote. “Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever.”
