Malala Yousafzai condemned Donald Trump on Tuesday for his recent proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States in the wake of terrorist attacks home and abroad.
The 18-year-old Nobel Prize-winner told BBC News that the GOP presidential candidate’s comments were “full of hatred.”
Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education, spoke out against Trump while at an event marking one year since more than 150 people — mostly children — were killed during a Taliban attack on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan.
Yousafzai also told the British broadcaster that the notion of blaming Muslims for terrorism would only “radicalise more terrorists.”
“If your intention is to stop terrorism, do not try to blame the whole population of Muslims for it because it cannot stop terrorists,” she said.
Trump’s comments have been met with major backlash from critics who call his proposal racist and un-American.
“We can be politically correct and be stupid, but it’s going to get worse and worse,” Trump said of his suggested Muslim ban.
