She and her husband, who was the drummer of her former band The Petalstones, have been married since 2007.
Akerman has starred in Rock of Ages, Watchmen, Wanderlust and Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital. Coming up, she will play Blondie singer Debbie Harry in the film CBGB, about the famed New York punk club.
