NBCLongtime NBC executive Marc Graboff, president of West Coast business operations, is leaving the network.
An NBCUniversal spokesperson confirmed the split and stressed that is was “amicable” and added that a “mutually convenient” exit date is still being worked out.
Graboff had signed a new three-year deal in August 2010, several months before the Comcast-NBCUniversal merger was finalized. He is only the latest executive to exit since Bob Greenblatt took the reigns at NBC Entertainment last January.
Well-liked in Hollywood, Graboff was instrumental in shepherding negotiations with creative talent; one reason former NBCUni chief Jeff Zucker in 2007 elevated him to co-chairman with Ben Silverman of the network’s entertainment division. Graboff was considered the adult in the relationship with the peripatetic Silverman, who left NBC in 2009 after an unsuccessful run.
Graboff’s exit, which was first reported by the Los Angeles Times, is not unexpected. His duties had become increasingly attenuated in the wake of the merger and the continued makeover of the fourth-place network.
Graboff joined NBC in 2000 after several years overseeing business affairs at CBS.
Prior to CBS, he was a partner at the Los Angeles law firm of Troop, Meisinger, Steuber and Pasich and, prior to that, he was a founding partner of the firm of Silverberg, Katz, Thompson and Braun.
