Marc Jacobs Forced To Wear ‘Bad Dad Jeans’ in Turn as Porn King for Big Screen Debut (Video)

Ever since the late 2011 announcement that Marc Jacobs would be appearing as a porn proprietor in his first feature film role, the fashion world has been waiting with bated breath. 

And at long last, the trailer for Disconnect finally has arrived. 

The psychological thriller focuses on some pretty heavy stuff  — think cyber-bullying and underage internet porn — and is directed by Murderball frontman Henry Alex Rubin. Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Paula Patton and Andrea Riseborough join Jacobs in the film, in which he plays a character who runs a youth-oriented porn business. Classy.

It stands to reason that the designer’s biggest annoyance in the thespian world wasn’t the fattening craft services fare or dealing with memorizing his lines. But rather a costume wardrobe that was putrid. 

“I had these really tacky suburban disco shirts with crucifixes embroidered on them,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “And the worst-fitting dad jeans – I never wear jeans anyway – but these were just bad and acid washed with flannel zip jackets sewn to the side. And they put big silver rings on my fingers and earrings. So they (his peeps) just couldn’t stop laughing. Nobody would have recognized me at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Yonkers in my acid-washed jean jacket with a hoodie attached and my dad jeans.”

Even his design team — who’ve seen him in some fairly wild outfits (like the pink polo dress above or his sheer black 2012 Met Gala shirt worn over boxers) — busted a gut when they saw Jacobs dressed in character.

Perhaps the horrid wardrobe is the reason he says he’ll likely not act again.  “I enjoyed saying I did it, and I enjoyed parts of doing it, but you know, it’s not ever been my dream to act or anything like that. It’s probably the last time I’ll ever do it.”

Yeah, we’d rather retire from acting than wear ill-fitting jeans and embroidered shirts, too.
