Fox Broadcasting’s veteran executive vp current programming Marcy Ross is leaving the network to pursue her desire to work on the creative side of the television business, a network spokesperson said Friday.
Since she was first hired by Gail Berman a decade ago, Ross has been involved in oversight of new and returning series, including House, Bones, Fringe, Lie to Me, American Dad and Family Guy. Most recently, she was involved with the launch of The Following.
Ross will remain with FBC as a consultant, probably through the current pilot season, to ensure a smooth transition.
Sources say she has already been approached for other jobs and that she wants to work on the creative side of TV.
She was promoted to her current position in 2007 after five years as senior vp current programming.
Before joining Fox in 2002, Ross had been senior vp comedy programming at Studios USA. Before that, she was senior vp creative affairs at the Henson Co. She has also worked at Sandollar Television, where she helped develop Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Ross is a graduate of Florida State University.
