This Is What Mariah Carey Wore to Receive Her Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Mariah Carey has hit another major milestone: The Grammy Award-winning singer received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday. Being that it was such a momentous occasion for her, Mimi didn’t shy away from seizing the moment and making a fashion statement.

The pop star stepped out in a bosom-baring, hip-hugging sequined gown, custom made by Kuwait-born designer Yousef Aljasmi.

“I was nervous, this is such a big event for Mariah I wanted to design something special and glamorous,” Aljasmi said in a statement about the design process. “I am so honored to be able to design for such an icon.”

During the ceremony, which was attended by Empire co-creator Lee Daniels and director Brett Ratner, as well as Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid and Epic Records’ Sylvia Rhone, Carey was honored with the 2,556th star.

After the official ceremony, Mimi welcomed her crew of friends and VIP supporters to the Roosevelt Hotel for a private luncheon. Originally set to be held at the newly-renovated Beacher’s Madhouse (set to officially open in September) in the hotel’s lower level, Carey’s number of guests pushed the affair upstairs to the Roosevelt’s Public Kitchen and Bar.

Beacher was one of the guests who greeted Carey when she arrived an hour after the start of the luncheon. But this wasn’t a typical Mimi day. “Today was one of the most important moments in all of my career,” said Carey, who also toasted the big achievement the night before with a private dinner by STK Out and Infuse Vodka at her $30 million Airbnb Malibu estate (Yes! Mariah uses Airbnb). “I was especially thankful for being able to have celebrated with my children and having them by my side for this special day. It was also beautiful to share this day with all my lambs who have supported me from the beginning.”
