Mark Cuban has donated $100,000 to support Hurricane Sandy victims in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, the New York Post reports.
Cuban — owner of the Dallas Mavericks, co-owner of Magnolia Pictures and chairman of AXS TV — apparently “wrote a check on the spot” after talking with New York Knicks correspondent and Today show contributor Jill Martin, a friend of the mogul’s who donated supplies to the storm-devastated area, according to the newspaper. Cuban “wants to stay involved and help develop a long-term plan for the community,” a source tells the Post.
Earlier this month, Cuban offered $1 million to charity for Donald Trump to shave his head. It was a response to Trump’s much-hyped, and much-mocked, offer to Barack Obama that he would donate $5 million to a charity of his choice if the president released his passport applications and academic transcripts.
Cuban, appearing on Fox 4 News in Dallas, had fun mocking Trump’s botched bid. “The offer he made for $5 million, that was one of the dumbest things ever,” he told the station.
