Mark Wahlberg is set to star in the family comedy Instant Family for Paramount Pictures.
Instant Family is a reunion for all involved, reteaming Wahlberg and filmmaker Sean Anders, who directed the actor in Paramount’s hit comedy Daddy’s Home and the upcoming sequel, Daddy’s Home 2 (due out Nov. 10).
Anders and John Morris co-wrote Instant Family and will produce alongside Wahlberg and Steve Levinson. Paramount is fast-tracking the pic and aims to start shooting next year.
Instant Family centers on a couple who decide to start a family and adopt through the foster-care system, only to find themselves raising three wild kids who have no interest in being parented.
Daddy’s Home, which also starred Will Ferrell, was a global success, earning $242.8 million at the worldwide box office following its release in November 2015. Linda Cardellini and Thomas Haden Church also starred in the movie, which focused on a stepdad (Ferrell) whose attempts to win over his stepchildren are thwarted when their macho father (Wahlberg) shows up. In the follow-up, the two men, who are now friends, must contend with their own intrusive fathers — played by John Lithgow and Mel Gibson — during the holidays.
Following Daddy’s Home 2, Wahlberg will next be seen in theaters in the J. Paul Getty drama All the Money in the World, which Sony will open in theaters Dec. 8 timed to awards season.
In addition to WME, Wahlberg is repped by Leverage and Sloane Offer. Anders is repped by UTA, Mosaic and Morris Yorn. Morris is repped by UTA, Mosaic and Morris Yorn.
