LONDON – Martin Scorsese is to executive produce Tomorrow, a British feature marking the big-screen directorial debut for the filmmaker’s longtime script supervisor, Martha Pinson.
The movie, written by Stuart Brennan and Sebastian Street, is billed as a feel-good story about five main characters living for the day. London-based Burn Hand Film Productions will produce.
Neil Jones and Dean Mitchell are taking the lead producer roles, while executive producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff joins Scorsese.
Pinson’s résumé boasts award-winning shorts and off-Broadway plays in addition to her script work with Scorsese and collaborations with Sidney Lumet and Oliver Stone.
Now set in the British capital, the move is set to shoot this year. Casting is under way.
“It’s an amazing script, with colorful characters and a truly uplifting story,” Mitchell said. “The film deals with a number of important issues, including HIV and soldiers returning home with post-traumatic stress disorder and will be making an important statement in how it addresses these. With Martha at the helm, it’s going to be a beautiful picture.”
