Getty ImagesMartin Short will be presented with a lifetime achievement award at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards, organizers said Tuesday.
The Canadian funnyman known for his star turns on SCTV and Saturday Night Live will receive a gala tribute on March 13 during a national awards show airing on the CBC network. Known for his characters the man-child Ed Grimley and clued-out reporter Jiminy Glick, Short hosted the event in 2013 and 2014.
The native of Hamilton, Ontario, has brought his winking comedy to Curb Your Enthusiasm, How I Met Your Mother, and Mulaney and completed an Emmy-nominated run on the legal drama Damages. Short’s movie credits include Three Amigos, Innerspace and both Father of the Bride movies, and on Broadway he picked up a Tony Award for his part in Neil Simon’s Little Me.
Short also recently toured with longtime friend Steve Martin in An Evening You’ll Forget for the Rest of Your Life.
The 2016 Canadian Screen Awards, organized by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, will take place in Toronto. Nominations will be announced on Jan. 19.
