Valiant Entertainment has begun staffing up in the wake of losing its executive editor last month, with former Marvel editor Heather Antos signing on to the company.
Antos worked at Marvel from 2015 through early 2018, predominantly on the successful Deadpool and Star Wars lines alongside senior editor Jordan D. White. She left the company in March to serve as editor-in-chief of e-sports company Unicorn, but maintained a freelance comics editor position with Image Comics titles including Redlands and Bitter Root.
”Heather has a sterling reputation, from the launching of the Star Wars line at Marvel, to her recent work at Image on Injection and Bitter Root; she is the kind of voice we want at Valiant,” Valiant senior editorial director Robert Meyers said in a statement. “With Heather joining us, we have a fully staffed Editorial department — each member brings unique story viewpoints that will broaden and deepen the Valiant line.”
At Valiant, she’ll be working with Vita Ayala on the newly launched Livewire series, while developing a new line of comic books, according to the publisher.
In an interview with The Beat about her new position, Antos teased what that line might look like, saying, “Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows of my deep love for horror and using genre to explore the darker reflections of humanity. However, that genre wasn’t something I was able to dabble on as deep as I wanted to during my time at Marvel. This is all changing at Valiant, though. And I cannot wait to explore their universe through this lens!”
