Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to Launch New Handbag Line

The fashion line The Row by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen will for the first time debut a collection of handbags to be available nationwide this week at Barneys New York. The nine handbags will include a day tote, backpack, doctor bag and classic shoulder bag, metal-framed minaudiere twin and laptop twin.

In a promotion for their handbags on Barneys’ blog The Window, the Olsen twins interviewed each other about the new pieces, their fashion inspirations, and their style philosophies. Ashley Olsen asked: “If you could raid any person’s wardrobe (alive or dead), who would it be?” to which her sister responded “Picasso.”

In her counter interview, Mary Kate Olsen inquired: “What is your favorite piece of clothing you’ve designed for The Row?” Her sister Ashley Olsen replied: “I would have to say our first t-shirt. We have evolved so much since that first tee, but every collection is based on the same standards — luxurious fabrics, impeccable fit, and the highest level of quality.”

The materials used in each expertly crafted handbag range from smooth, structured alligator to gray calf’s leather.

According to Barneys, the handbags are “sleek and sophisticated, blending old-world glamour with contemporary chic — a rare balance that has come to define The Row, season after season.”

The Row’s luxury handbags, designed by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, will be featured at Barneys New York in July. Prices for the line were not immediately available.
