In the final stretch of the presidential campaigns, Meat Loaf is making his opinion known.
The singer stepped out at an Ohio rally for Mitt Romney on Thursday night, where he joined country superstars Big & Rich and Randy Owen of the band Alabama in supporting the Republican presidential nominee. Following a brief concert, Meat Loaf also took the stage to give a series of remarks described as “meandering” by several outlets including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and Yahoo!

After telling the crowd, “I want you to know, at 65, that Paul Ryan has not pushed me off the cliff in a wheelchair” (apparently referring to a “super PAC” ad earlier this year that criticized Ryan’s budget plan for Medicare), Meat Loaf added that he had decided to support Romney due to concerns that President Obama does not share Romney’s belief that Russia is the No. 1 geopolitical enemy of the U.S.
“This is the most important election in the history of the United States, because there has storm clouds come over the United States. There is thunderstorms over Europe,” the singer reportedly said, while several outlets note that he misspoke several times. “There are hailstorms, and I mean major hailstorms, in the Middle East. There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere, and there’s only one man that” — breaking off abruptly. “The other night when President Barack Obama, God bless him, said to Mitt Romney, ‘The Cold War is over.’ I have never heard such a thing in my life.”

Meat Loaf continued his scene-stealing antics during a group performance of “America the Beautiful,” when he opted to take some liberties with the melody. Several videos were made available on YouTube Friday morning, but had been removed at the time of publication. Video of the performance is still available courtesy of CNN. Watch below.
“I have to tell you, I don’t recall having so much fun in such a long time as to be able to listen to these guys this evening,” Mitt Romney said when he took the stage. “Was it not just amazing to have Big & Rich performing, and then Meat Loaf? I mean Meat Loaf was here, can you believe it?”
