Annapurna’s Megan Ellison has shed one of the crown jewels of her sprawling real estate portfolio.
In a deal that just closed, Ellison has sold 1 Electra Ct. above the Sunset Strip for $35.7 million, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. The main 10,000-square-foot curvaceous house with multiple tiered terraces has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and sits on three acres of land that offer some of the best views in the city. There are two guest apartments as well as a pool with a grotto and an outdoor volleyball court.
The home was designed by architect Richard Schwarz and built in 1990 and was featured in the 2009 film I Love You, Man.
Ellison purchased the property in 2013 for $20 million, but according to reports she acquired several neighboring parcels of land for an additional $10 million, which put the total lot size at almost eight acres. All eight acres were part of the most recent sale.
The 31-year-old producer behind Detroit, Her and American Hustle, to name but a few, has done quite a bit of buying and selling in the local real estate market in recent years. In 2016, Ellison paid $13.5 million for a property in Beverly Hills that she tried to flip two months later for nearly $15 million. She wound up taking a million-dollar loss on that property. In December, she acquired a 1.12 acre Beverly Hills compound including a 4,965-square-foot, four-bedroom and four-bathroom 1920s Spanish hacienda-style house from cinematographer Janusz Kaminski for $15.5 million. She also has an apartment in New York.
Mercer Vine’s Kyle Giese and Adam Rosenfeld along with Hilton & Hyland’s Tyrone McKillen represented the buyer, while Mercer Vine’s Lisa Optican represented the seller. All the brokers involved in the deal declined to comment.
